INTERPOL ISSUE WARRANT FOR THE ARREST OF MAINA
The International Police, INTERPOL have issued a warrant for the arrest on the embattled former Chairman of the defunct Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr Abdulrasheed Maina.
The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu told journalists in Abuja.
He said that the issue of Maina had gone beyond his reinstatement but a serious offence that had now involved the INTERPOL that now sought his arrest wherever he might be hiding.
He also disclosed that an Abuja Magistrate’s Court had issued fresh warrants for the arrest of Maina.
“All those cases involving Steve Oronsaye (former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation) that are ongoing, you know Maina is also involved. Law enforcement agencies are looking at that too.
He noted that the Senate had shown serious interest in Maina’s case and that all legal arsenal would be used to prosecute the embattled pension boss.
According to him, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC is not relenting in its efforts to get Maina arrested, adding that some of Maina’s properties had since been identified and seized by the anti-graft agency.
“In fact, this investigation will also touch some foreign countries.”
