What they won’t tell you about waist trainers

Waist training has become really trendy, majorly because celebrities have endorsed it. Kim Kardashian is a firm believer in this practice and even Jessica Alba has revealed that she wore waist trainers for two months after childbirth to get back in shape.

Waist training involves wearing corsets for prolonged hours with the belief that it will permanently cinch your waist. This idea is not totally new but centuries ago English women wore corsets to make their midriff look trim when they wore their formal gowns.

However, scientists claim that this idea is ridiculous and that once the waist training piece is removed, the body goes back to its normal shape. They go on to assert that wearing corsets tightly, can lead to breathing difficulty and even rib damage, theoretically. In fact, doctors believe they have reason to believe it affects the spine and crams the organs together, causing heartburn and makes certain women pass out.

Extended use of waist trainers is not advisable because the benefits may last temporarily but your body will go back to the way it is used to be and even leave you with the permanent issues. It is said to be capable of deforming the stomach, causing atrophy of abdominal walls.

Some doctors permanently stand by the fact that eating healthy and proper exercise remains the best way to shave off the extra inches of unwanted fat.

The way I see it, celebrities are paid to endorse products so they will say all kinds of things. Apart from that, they follow strict diet and exercise regimens that keep them in shape so it is not really about the waist trainers. If you want to get a trim waist, do it the old fashioned way!
